In a bid to further its strategy of expanding its international network, e-TQM College, the pioneering e-learning institution specialized in offering Total Quality Management education, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of California, Berkeley, to work together in various areas of mutual cooperation. Following this agreement, the two parties will work closely to develop executive education programs, staff exchanges, research and publications production, mentorship and other support initiatives
The landmark MoU was signed by Tom Campbell, Dean Haas School of Business and Dr. Mansour Al Awar, Vice President of e-TQM College and Richard Newton, Dean, College of Engineering, Management of Technology Program. The MoU was a result of e-TQM College’s willingness to forge relationships with various universities around the world to bring best practices in TQM related education to the UAE and the region.
Commenting on the MoU, Dr. Mansoor Al Awar said, “With the signing of this important MoU with the University of California, Berkley, e-TQM College has furthered its strategy of developing a strong global network with prestigious and reputable educational institutions for the purpose of knowledge transfer and collaborative research which play a major in the modern educational system. We found an ideal partner in the University of California, Berkley who have built a reputation for the quality of its programs and research activities, and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”
With respect to executive education, both parties concerned will work closely together for the design and delivery of specific executive programs that will suit the requirements of senior managers and top executives operating in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The provision of executive development programs, particularly short courses, may require faculty members from the Haas School of Business to travel to Dubai. Delegates from e-TQM College may also be required to travel to the US and attend courses and other activities at the University of California, Berkley.

With regard to staff exchanges, the MOT program and Haas School of Business will allow e-TQM College’s faculty to attend specific programs and actively participate in them on a space available basis and in keeping with the general rules of these programs.

The MOT program, a joint initiative between Haas and the College of Engineering, will suitably raise regional interest, since the MENA region is now poised for absorbing ICT and other forms of technology that can support the drives for economic development and modernisation of various countries in the region.
