The Netherlands evacuated and closed its consulate in Istanbul Wednesday due to a possible militant threat, AFP reported.
The move by the Dutch foreign ministry comes a day after deadly explosions rocked Brussels and less than a week after an attack in Istanbul that killed three Israelis and one Iranian in a central shopping district.
German diplomatic missions were also closed throughout Turkey last week for similar security concerns.
Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders "decided to temporarily close the Dutch consulate in Istanbul after a possible terror threat," an official statement said, adding "he advises all Dutch citizens to stay away from its vicinity and stay abreast of developments."
"For obvious reasons we cannot say more about the nature of the threat and where it comes from," Koenders added.
Turkey has been the scene of major bombings over the last several months, carried out by Daesh and Kurdish militant groups in Istanbul, Ankara, and other cities.
Daesh has been blamed for four bombings in the last eight months, including a deadly blast at a peace rally in Ankara that killed 103 people in October.
