Reinforcing its commitment to supporting the community and charitable organisations, Dulux Paints recently co-sponsored the Al Noor Annual Fun Fair to raise funds for the Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs.
The day’s activities included pony and camel rides, magic shows, palm readings, games and competitions as well as stalls selling food and many other items. This year the fair was attended by over 5000 people and raised funds in excess of AED220,000.
“We are pleased to support events in the community and feel that centres such as Al Noor are vital to providing children with an environment to learn and excel regardless of their disabilities,“ said Ashish Chaturvedy, Marketing Manager, Al Gurg Leigh’s Paints, manufacturer and distributor of Dulux Paints in the UAE.
At the event, Dulux gave away AED100 gift vouchers that can be used to purchase paint from any Dulux Decorator Centre in the UAE. Dulux recently supplied paint to the Senses Centre for children with special needs, and plans to paint the Al Noor Centre free of charge later this year.
“We plan to brighten up the surroundings for the children at the centre through colour. Our research has shown that colour can bring out creativity in children. Dulux will use a range of vibrant colours to enhance energy levels and bring about a positive mood. We are happy to lend a helping hand to the community and will continue to look to help Al Noor in future,” said Amna Saqib, Assistant Manager, Colour and Design Development, Al Gurg Leigh’s Paints.
Established in 1981, Al Noor looks after 220 children with special needs of 19 different nationalities. The centre supports children with challenges such as Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Autism and uses a number of special teaching methods to help them to lead a normal day to day life.
The centre’s operational expenses are covered only partly by school fees, and it is mainly funded by fundraising projects, and the generosity of the community. Though many individuals and corporations support Al Noor, there is no source of official or regular funding. The centre relies on fundraising activity to source more than two-thirds of its operational expenses.
If you would like to offer assistance or contribute to the centre please contact its fundraising department on 04 394 6088.
