Dubal wins “best exporter” award at Mela 2009
Commitment to excellence and long-term partnerships rewarded.
Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (“DUBAL”) – the world’s largest modern smelter with a captive power station – received the 2009 Best Exporter Award in the Shippers category of the 3rd Annual Middle East Logistics Awards (“MELA 2009”). The accolade, presented during a gala event on 30 June 2009, recognises the aluminium giant’s outstanding contribution to the logistics industry in the region through its large scale shipping activities.
According to the organisers, MELA benchmarks and celebrates performance excellence in the Middle East logistics industry and recognises the top performers for their achievements. The annual MELA winners are determined by the Middle East community in a decision-making two-stage process of nominating and voting for their choice of companies or individuals, based in and operating in the Middle East Region, that have set new benchmarks in the industry. MELA 2009 awarded 22 awards in various categories, collectively recognising the accomplishments of the top-performing organisations and individuals.
Sultan Al Sabri (Senior Manager, Marketing & Sales: Europe & North America), who received the award on behalf of DUBAL, says, “This award is a fitting tribute to the role DUBAL plays in the regional economy as a major importer of raw materials and exporter of finished products, not to mention the revenue we generate and the employment opportunities we provide. It also reflects the inherent value in the long-term partnerships we nurture with all our stakeholders – from our suppliers and customers through to our employees and the community; and our commitment to excellence in all that we do.”
“Indeed, our business is built on the belief that our success is interdependent on that of our stakeholders. It’s an approach that has provided a solid foundation for our continued growth over the past 30 years since our inception in 1979; and an approach that we will continue to pursue for the foreseeable future,” adds Al Sabri. “I thank our nominators and everyone who voted for DUBAL – your support of and loyalty to our company is much appreciated.”
