Dubal recognises employee contributions
Culture of recognition and rewards encourages dedication, hard work and loyalty to aluminium giant.
Reflecting the company’s passion for people and acknowledging their contribution to its ongoing success Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (“DUBAL”), the largest modern aluminium smelter in the world, hosted a dedicated appreciation ceremony for Fire & Security Department personnel on Tuesday 23 December 2008. The event, held on the company’s site in Jebel Ali, saw many people receive medallions, certificates and gifts in recognition of their efforts during the course of the year. Two trophies were also awarded in each sub-department (i.e. Security Services; and Fire): one for Employee of the Year, and the other a team award for Best Shift of the Year.
Said Abdulla Ali Al Abbar (Manager Security Services & Fire Prevention): “Building a healthy workplace environment is one of the keys to success in any business. Accordingly, the rewards programme within the Fire & Security Department is designed to develop a spirit of teamwork among DUBAL’s Fire & Security personnel, by encouraging them to contribute to a set of initiatives that are aligned to the department’s strategic objectives.”
Widely acknowledged as an employer of choice in the region, DUBAL won the 2003 Dubai Human Resources Award and the 2006 Dubai Human Resources Award – GOLD. A well-developed recognition and reward culture, together with competitively structured compensation and benefits packages, plus comprehensive skills training and development initiatives, contributes to the inherent stability of the company’s workforce. Approximately 30 per cent of DUBAL’s employees have worked the company for more than ten years, with 10 per cent boasting service tenure longer than 20 years.
