The Dubai Media City can be a base for Egyptian companies to enhance their business throughout the region, said an Emirati official Tuesday.

"Egypt has a vibrant film, television and recording industry and the largest publishing industry in the Arab world. The DMC could be an excellent base for Egyptian companies to enhance their businesses throughout the Middle East region," said Mohammed Al Gergawi, director-general of Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority, quoted by the Gulf News.

The official said that Dubai Internet City (DIC) had begun attracting IT talent from Egypt.

"The free zone offers exciting and challenging opportunities for technology professionals from Egypt. DIC can help stem and even reverse the flight of talent from the region which is becoming a source of concern for the region's IT industry," he said.

Egyptian Prime Minister Atif Ebeid visited the DIC and DMC Tuesday to discuss ways to broaden the scope of Arab cooperation in IT and the media, the paper said.

Ebeid arrived in Abu Dhabi Monday night en route to Indonesia to take part in the 22nd G-15 summit that will be held on Wednesday – Albawaba.com
