Dubai World Statistics Department holds workshop for Hatta Check Point staff
Department ready to co-operate with other customs check-points
Saeed Al Qaizi, Director of Procurement, Contracts and General Administration, Dubai World, and Director of Statistics Department, the Group’s consulting arm, said that the department is keen to establish long-term partnership with all business units, those under Dubai World as well as other public and private sector companies.
Referring to the workshop that Statistics Department held recently at the Hatta Check-Point, Al Qaizi said that the department plans to create a strong communication platform with other departments, which will help in collecting statistical data.
The workshop on “Quality of Statistical Data” that Statistics Department conducted for Hatta Check-Point staff came within the framework of its co-operation and co-ordination with all related departments.
The team to Hatta Check-Point was headed by Nassim Al Mehairi, Acting Head of Statistics Department. It included the department’s data and reports processing specialists.
The delegation was received by Muteb Al Bannai, Manager of Hatta Check-Point, and other officials and employees. Welcoming the visitors, Al Bannay said: “I commend Statistics Department for taking the initiative and cooperating with the check-point’s management. This can bring great advantages to the functioning of Statistics Department as well as that of the check-point.”
At the workshop Nassim Al Mehairi explained Statistics Department’s operating system to deliver prompt analysis and dissemination of statistical data vital to the trading sector. She also stressed the importance of accurate processing of customs declarations and underlined the important role played by the operations employees in processing the correct data and prompt delivery of the statistical reports.
Muteb Al Bannai reviewed the trade flow through Hatta Check-Point over the first five months of 2008, which highlighted the prominent role the check-point plays in boosting Dubai’s trading activities.
Concluding the meeting, both parties agreed that the Statistics Department provides periodical statistical reports to Hatta Check-Point on the trade flow. The department expressed readiness to fully coordinate and cooperate with all the check-points in the country and conduct training courses for the employees at Hatta Check-Point.
