Dubai: For a moment if felt like being in some part of China - fireworks, lanterns, Chinese dancers and performers, everything associated with Spring Festival was there, together with the Chinese Consul General Mr Gao You Zhen. But it all was happening in Dragon Mart, Dubai’s gateway to China.
The concert held last night at the Dragon Mart complex, attended by dignitaries, VIP guests and 500 tenants, had something for everyone partaking in the New Year celebrations of the local Chinese community.
Illustrating the importance of the festivities, David Thurling, Managing Director, Nakheel Shopping Malls, said: "Interest in Chinese history, culture and contemporary life is increasing among Dubai residents and across the UAE since the development of Dragon Mart, which will continue to grow as we approach the Beijing Games.”
Red lanterns lit up the main galleria and young acrobats, popstars, martial art experts and kung fu dancers added extra colour to the event.
“Dragon Mart is the largest trading hub for Chinese products outside China. We are proud to provide the UAE with a venue to experience the Chinese culture and enhance our economic ties with China,” said Hanady Amin, General Manager, Dragon Mart, a Nakheel Shopping Malls property.
Each evening at 5:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm until Thursday February 14, visitors to the complex can enjoy rare performances from some of China’s best entertainers who travel the world with their awe-inspiring performances.
