Dubai Municipality has decided on Sunday to ban the sale of newspapers and magazines and other commodities by newsboys and peddlers at traffic signals, said a press release.
Director-General of Dubai Municipality Qassim Sultan was quoted by UAE’s news agency (WAM) as saying that the temporary decision will take effect from October 29, noting that the municipality gave a grace period to those sellers before the decision gets activated.
Traffic officials said that the new decision comes to protect people from accidents that would be caused from those peddlers and newsboys.
