Dubai is well on course to launch its e-government initiative during mega IT event Gitex, the Gulf News reported in its online edition on Wedneday.
"We are developing the portal for services, enabling customers to go directly to the state departments concerned," Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, who heads the Dubai e-government committee, was quoted by the daily as saying. "The Dubai Government's focus through this initiative is to ensure more efficiency for businesses and citizens in the emirate."
She added that the portal would go live during the region's biggest event for the computer and infotech industry, with demonstrations of the numerous applications during the event.
She stressed that the e-government initiative was one of the world's most ambitious.
"To complete it according to play, within budget and on time is no easy task. But in EDS, the Dubai e-government Committee has found a skilled and committed partner of global proportions, with whose assistance much has been accomplished already.” – Albawaba.com
