Dubai refuses Hamas participation in assassination probe

The UAE authorities have refused the participation of Hamas in the investigation of the assassination of the Palestinian movement's leader Mahmoud Mabhouh, which Hamas says that Israel assassinated in Dubai last month. According to the Arabic A Sharq al Awsat newspaper, a security official confirmed that his country deals only with the Palestinian Authority and "not dealing with individuals".

 

The General Commander of Dubai Police, Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim said in remarks published by the newspaper that the Dubai government is officially dealing with the Palestinian side regarding the issue.

 

Meanwhile, the Israeli army said it had warned its senior officers to be on guard when traveling abroad following the assassinationin Dubai. According to the AP, Israeli officials said Monday it fears Hamas operatives could try to capture senior officers or military attaches traveling outside the country. It has ordered its officers to be on alert.
