Dubai Refreshments Company (DRC), PEPSI Co. will extend its long standing partnership with Dubai Shopping Festival for the 13th year, as a key sponsor for DSF 2008. During the annual shopping festival, the company will also host the 5th edition of ‘Pepsi Sports Fiesta’, the largest sports event for schools in the UAE.
Announcing the partnership, Alan Salem, CEO of DRC, said:” Dubai Refreshments Company has enjoyed a strong association with DSF since its inception. Fun, excitement, variety and universal appeal characterise this event that has established Dubai as the central shopping capital. The ‘Pepsi Sports Fiesta’, started back in 2003 originally as a contribution to DSF. It consists of both mixed players in basketball and football tournaments for schools and open. Now in its fifth year running, the event has become a regular fixture on the DSF activity calendar, attracting thousands of spectators every year.
“The event is for the ‘Youth of Dubai’ to ensure they get to demonstrate their sporting abilities in a fun and competitive environment. It’s all about fair play, team spirit, encouraging healthy lifestyle based on sports and overall a great event for all the family, friends and sportsman/woman to get together and show their stuff!” added Alan Salem.
This year the action packed event is spread over three weeks and will take place at Safa Park (Gate 1) daily from 4 pm onwards starting February 1 until February 23, 2008.
“We have 68 Dubai schools competing along with outside players coming and forming their own teams and participating. Winners of the basketball and football/soccer tournaments will receive medals, trophies and gift vouchers from our co-sponsors NIKE & WILD WADI, as well as certificates for all players who have participated. In addition, we have included other fun sporting activities such as; contests for the ‘Best Dance Team’, ‘Best DJ’ and ‘Break-dance’ along with other exciting entertainment for the spectators and prizes from our sponsors for all the winners!” added Alan Salem.
“Our aim is to grow and make the PEPSI SPORTS FIESTA one of the biggest youth sporting events in Dubai. This year we have welcome co sponsors such as NIKE and WILD WADI.
