Dubai Police Chief Maj. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan Tamim charged on Tuesday that Israel was "trying very hard" to ruin the UAE's economy by threatening its banking system.
The officer said that his men had busted a notorious gang that was hurting the economy of the UAE, according to Gulf News.
"We have nabbed this gang which used to provide Israel with information on the UAE using computers. We have seized the computers and are now studying what material they have passed over to Israel.
"Our banks are exposed to many threats, and Israel is trying very hard to ruin the UAE's economy," he added.
Tamim did not give further details on what he meant by “threats,” the nature of information passed on to Israel or the nationalities of the suspects.
He made the charges at a seminar at the Ras Al Khaimah Police Officers Club - Albawaba.com
