The Municipality of Dubai will participate in a conference which will be organized by the Arab Institute for Urban Development and the Heritage Foundation in Saudi Arabia between 10-12 November 2001, the UAE daily Al Bayan reported.
The head of Dubai Municipality foreign relations office, Munther Akram said that the municipality of Dubai would participate in the conference on the “Future Cities” in response to an invitation received by the Qasem Sultan, the director general of the municipality.
The conference will be held under the auspices of Riyadh’s prince Salman bin Abdel Aziz, and Dubai Municipality would participate with a working paper.
“The ‘Future Cities’ conference gains big importance after all expectations showed that the rapid developments in IT and communications and the growing orientation towards globalization will have their strong impacts on urban development and city management in future,” added the official.
Jumaah anticipated that the conference would be attended by a large number of senior officials, businessmen, mayors, corporations presidents and international organizations with expertise in the field -- Albawaba.com
