Around 56,000 unregistered car in Dubai seem to cause a headache for the emirate’s traffic department, which firmly decided to ban their owners from doing any traffic-related business at the department until they get the registration renewed.
“Dubai traffic department would automatically reject applications for any traffic-related work submitted by people who owns unregistered vehicles,” a police source Khalej Times.
Major Ali Ahmed Al Basty, at Dubai Traffic Police Department was quoted by the Dubai-based paper as saying that “there about 16 percent of the total in the emirate with expired registration in the emirate.”
The total number of vehicles in the emirate is about 345,000.
"Such vehicles include those which are wanted by police and scrapped and impounded vehicles," the police official said.
Major Basty said that owners of vehicles with expired registration should contact the traffic authorities to get the registration renewed or to transfer the cars to the traffic authorities, after paying accumulated fines.
