Visiting members of the German Marine Industry Association (BWVS) got a glimpse of the world's most comprehensive maritime hub yesterday during a reception and presentation with Dubai Maritime City.
The 21-member delegation led by Jurgen Tracht, Managing Director of the German Marine Industry Association was on a 5 five day fact finding tour of Dubai. Dubai Maritime City showcased its project, giving a detailed background and showing up to the minute images of the project showing the tremendous progress being achieved at the site.
Welcoming the delegation to the high profile event, Amer Ali, Project Manager of Dubai Maritime City said: "This is indeed a great honor and privilege for us to welcome the German Marine Industry Association to witness the realization of the vision of Dubai through this groundbreaking new development."
Dubai Maritime City principle objectives are to introduce the world's first purpose built maritime cluster, to develop Dubai's ship repair industry and support Dubai's waterfront development.
"Created through the vision of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Maritime City will provide a unique world-class environment for the global maritime community," he concluded.
The visitors were in awe of the sheer size and scale of the development and were particularly struck by the vision, planning, research and logistics that are an integral part of the project.
The delegation also visited various Nakheel waterfront projects and was impressed at Dubai's rapid development. The delegation included Abdulrahman Adeeb, General Manager of Boot Dusseldorf, the world's second largest exhibition for boats, yachts and maritime services and was accompanied by Ali Bin Thalith, General Manager of Marinas at Nakheel.
The BWVS represents the national and international interests of some 1100 companies spanning all sectors of the business, from boat and boating equipment manufacturing side through to importing, distribution, retailing and services. Since 1971, the association has been a partner in Boot-Dusseldorf, one of the world's largest marine related exhibitions.
