Dubai Islamic Bank awarded “Superbrand” status
Follows recent Islamic Finance News and Banker Middle East Awards

Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has been named a “Superbrand” for the year 2007-2008, the first ever such accolade for the bank. The award honours the UAE’s most well-known and respected brands in various industries.

Upon receiving the award for DIB, Khaled Kamda, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, DIB, said: “This award reflects the strength of the DIB brand in the UAE market and our status as the premier Islamic financial institution in the region. Our marketing efforts have been instrumental in helping to establish our brand firmly in the public’s consciousness. We offer our customers the highest level of service and the most innovative products.”

Superbrands Award Ceremonies are held in countries throughout the world, and Superbrands are chosen by the Superbrands Council of each country. The UAE Superbrands Council is made up of industry leaders based in the country who in turn rank brands in the UAE on a 100-point scale. A Superbrand is defined as offering “consumers significant emotional and/or physical advantages over its competitors which (consciously or subconsciously) consumers want, recognise and are willing to pay a premium for.”

In addition to being awarded Superbrand status, DIB has already won several other notable awards in 2008. In February DIB was named the “UAE’s best Islamic bank” at the Islamic Finance News Awards and in March, it was awarded “Auto Finance Provider of the Year” by Autocar Magazine. Earlier in the year, DIB was also given the “Best Islamic Credit Card Award” at the inaugural Banker Middle East Product Awards.
