Dubai investments park hosts a series of environmental activities
Dubai Investments Park, the largest integrated business and residential community in the Middle East and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC, strongly backed the environmental month campaign which was recently organized by Marriott International.
The programme which kicked off during the first week of April witnessed the launch of a series of environmental activities within Dubai Investments Park (DIP).
Courtyard Marriott allocated an area in its market mall premises for leading environmental companies to erect stands and display their products. Visitors to the stands were acquainted with the unique products and technology that these companies had to offer, in their promotion of a green lifestyle.
Marriott International also organized a ‘Clean Up Campaign’ within DIP involving employees of the Courtyard Marriott. A campaign involving the planting of trees around the greenbelt areas adjacent to the roads of the Park, also took place last month. Children from various schools based in DIP were the main participants.
In a bid to garner support and promote environmental activities among the community, Courtyard Marriott also conducted a painting competition between schools based in DIP. The competition revolved around the theme ‘Save the Environment’. The winners were selected by a panel comprising of General Managers and representatives from the Green Community.
“Although DIP has incorporated advanced infrastructure with a keen focus on industrial growth, we have also undertaken numerous initiatives in line with our ‘Clean and Green’ vision for the future,” said Omar Al Mesmar, General Manager of Dubai Investments Park. “We have adopted and actively supported the Green ideology as per the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It is with great pride that we have supported Marriott International’s Environmental month.”
Envisioned as a self-sustaining city within a city, Dubai Investments Park is spread across an area of 32 million square meters consisting of three zones – Industrial, Commercial, Residential and Educational.
DIP strictly ensures that tenants observe zone regulations. As an eco-conscious development, the park allows only certain types of industries to operate within its premises. It also ensures that tenants observe a number of regulations in relation to air and dust emissions, trade and hazardous waste, noise control, import and storage of dangerous goods and worker safety.
Landscaping requirements are 20 percent for industrial plots and 10 percent for others. The park ensures that trees are planted along the perimeter of each plot. Planting of trees and recycling activities are also conducted at regular intervals throughout the year.
