Khalid Kalban, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Investments PJSC (DI), the largest investment company listed on the Dubai Financial Market, has won the Masterclass CEO Award at the inaugural Middle East Business Leader Awards 2010.

Kalban received the award from Shahul Hameed Dawood, CEO of Malaysia-based ‘The Leaders’ magazine - the organizers of Middle East Business Leader Awards 2010 - at a gala ceremony held recently at the InterContinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City. Introducing Kalban to the audience as one of the UAE’s most respected business leaders, Dawood said Kalban was recognized for his outstanding leadership achievements in 2009, during which he initiated a series of strategic actions to help limit the impact of the global economic slowdown on DI’s operations and steered the company through challenging market conditions to post impressive financial results.

Recognized as one of the UAE’s leading business figures, Kalban has extensive experience in the industrial, financial and investment sectors. He has played a key role in establishing several leading companies in the UAE, and is known for his formidable expertise in managing large establishments. He is presently the Chairman of Union Properties, and a member of the Board of several regional companies including Emirates NBD, First Energy Bank, Arab Insurance Group, and Thuraya Satellite Communications-Telecommunications Company.

The Middle East Business Leadership Awards seek to recognize the achievements of business visionaries from across the region and to honour their contribution towards the region’s economic development. The event recognizes Middle East and international individuals with excellent track records and outstanding achievements in their respective business sector.

Organized by ‘The Leaders’ magazine, Malaysia, the Middle East Business Leadership Awards is the first awards event presented by Malaysia to Middle East. The event is in line with the mission and priority of the Federation of GCC Chambers, which is to enhance the performance of human resources across the Gulf Countries and support the activity for economic recovery.
