Dubai Fashion Fiesta 2009 ends with a flair of sophistication
The Dubai Fashion Fiesta (DFF) 2009, a fashion highlight of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2009, created another mark in the fashion industry as it showcased topnotch local designers and emerging talents. The event ended on a high fashion note on Monday, June 22, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).
DFF 2009 was a tremendous success as it gathered the attention of thousands of high-profile socialites, fashionistas, models, designers, media and even actors and actresses. Sightings of Bollywood celebrities such as Riya Sen, Raima Sen and Sayali Bhagat added to the glamour of the show. Fashion gurus such as Sabrina Barnett, DFF Ambassador in the USA and Larisa Katz, DFF brand ambassador in the UK were also part of DFF 2009.
The four amazing days of fashion put the spotlight on the collections of almost 34 designers from different sides of the world. Celebrated designers and labels for this year’s Fashion Fiesta included Lida O’ Reilly, Marco Marcu, Anita Dongre, Shaahid Amir, Verica Rakocevic, Dragica Gudeljevic, and JJ Valaya. The event also featured designers of the likes of Reka Orosz, Raman Vij, Miss Magou, Nataliya Dolenko London, Rocky Gathercole, Furne One and Larisa Katz.
The ramp was filled with avant-garde pieces and models walked through the ramp with confidence and power to the dresses that beautifully wrapped them. Attendees found delight in the shows wherein the powerful pull of style gave a creative flair in so many ways – trendy colors, silks, sequins, woven, embroidered, tapered, native, classic, and the modern. DFF 2009 paved the way for designers to create looks that were very inventive and ingenious.
Anna Unger from the UK won The Emerging Talent designer award for DFF 2009. Twenty four young designers from across the world were given the opportunity to present their talents and collections as they vied for the title ‘The Emerging Designer Awards’.
