Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s Conservation Team Honored By Saeed Al Tayer

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority recently honored the Conservation team, part of the Investor Services section in the Customer Relations Department, in a warm gesture to honor and encourage the outstanding efforts of employees. The reception was in honor of their great efforts in organizing various activities and events in the past few months.

His Excellency hosted a lunch reception for the Conservation team at Café Blanc Restaurant in Festival City, Dubai, in the presence of Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Vice President of Shared Services, Rashid Bin Humaidan, EVP of Customer Services, Amal Al Suwaidi, Sr. Manager of Customer Relations, and Amal Koshak, Manager of Investor Services, as well as employees of the department.

His Excellency applauded the efforts of Investor Services and their ongoing efforts in water and electricity conservation campaigns, and their keenness on participating in various campaigns.

One of the most prominent activities carried out by the Conservation team in the Investor Services section last month was organizing a GCC Water conservation workshop to celebrate Gulf Water Week, under the slogan “Conservation of Water is the Responsibility of All”.  The workshop was held on 26 March 2008 at Intercontinental Hotel, Festival City, in coordination with The UAE Ministry of Energy, and GCC Secretariat.

His Excellency commended the high team spirit evident in the employees, and stressed the importance of making use of the media to relate the message of the Authority to all members of the community, especially in the field of conservation.

The Managing Director & CEO lauded the efforts of Investor Services in arranging a successful water conservation workshop for GCC countries, which received positive response from participating delegates within and outside the UAE, who were impressed with the organization of the event, the topics that were laid out for discussion, and the overall efforts that went into the event.  The event mirrored Dubai as a city that embraces regional communities, and one that addresses significant issues such as water conservation in the region.

Among the participants of the workshop were delegates of GCC countries, and a number of authorities and organizations from within and outside the country. The regional official for the Natural Resources Program at the United Nations Environment Program delivered the workshop’s opening speech.

The workshop included various subjects related to water and its uses, the importance of implementing conservation programs, green buildings, and a number of latest technologies to save water in the construction industry.

His Excellency distributed Certificates of Recognition to the conservation team for their role in organizing the above workshop.

Employees of the Investor Services section expressed their happiness and gratitude for this honour and recognition of their efforts, which they considered as an incentive to do even more to spread the Authority’s message of conserving water and electricity to all segments of Dubai’s society.
