Dubai eGovernment has recently announced that 22 employees from the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) have enrolled for the ‘ADAAT’ eDiploma, a customised online learning course specially prepared for DTCM staff by Dubai eGovernment, which started yesterday (Tuesday, May 15, 2007), at the DTCM offices.
Translating to ‘behaviour’ in Arabic, ADAAT is designed to enhance the communication, customer service and business skills of DTCM staff. It is the second batch of DTCM employees to participate in the eDiploma, who will have up to six months to finish a total of 20 ADAAT courses teaching content including business ethics, team participation, communication, customer and employee focus, and creativity.
“The ADAAT eDiploma is one of the Dubai eGovernment’s initiatives to promote e-literacy and ensure that organisations can keep pace with the rapidly changing corporate requirements. By developing this course in association with DTCM, we are ensuring that the department’s employees have a very thorough training in customer relationships and communications skills, creating very high standards of service for customers,” commented Salem Al Shair, Director of eServices, Dubai eGovernment.
The online courses have been designed to enable students to study without the limitations of time and location, providing instant access to course material from any online computer. The government-certified qualification also offers personalised user accounts, user guides and support training.
The eDiploma will be completed mostly through online training on the portal www.elearn.ae; one of the innovative eServices that Dubai eGovernment provides for students, citizens, investors and the business and resident communities.
Launched with the objective of spreading awareness and developing people’s e-skills towards better usage of online services, the eLearn forum has conducted more than 3,000 interactive and cost effective online courses in various disciplines including technology and business. In addition to the eDiploma, Dubai eGovernment has recently completed several government and non-government eLearn projects, such as creating Arabic and English content for Tejari, the Middle East’s business to business online marketplace.
Established in January 1997, the DTCM has two main areas of responsibility including managing functions of the former Dubai Commerce and Tourism Promotion Board (DCTPB), and acting as the principal authority for the planning, supervision and development of the tourism sector in the emirate. In assuming its administrative responsibilities within Dubai, the DTCM has now taken over the licensing of hotels, hotel apartments, tour operators, tourist transport companies and travel agents.
“With an increasing number of operations occurring online, it is important for staff to be fully updated with the latest technology to succeed in our digitally-based environment. The ADAAT eDiploma is designed to foster a tremendous potential for personal growth, as employees are trained in modern procedures and policies for any successful organisation,” Al Shair concluded.
