Customs Inspectors foil two bids of smuggling due to their experience in body language
Dubai- Inline with the efforts made to protect the local community from contraband, Dubai Customs foils two separate bids of smuggling narcotics. Two Asian passengers attempted to smuggle 80 capsules of heroin through Dubai International Airport concealing them in their stomachs.
The first attempt was aborted when a customs inspector at the Passengers Operations Department at the Airport- Terminal 2 suspected an Asian passenger while he was on his way to pick up his luggage. The passenger was frisky and was hesitant to take his luggage, such behavior aroused inspectors' doubts.
At the beginning neither the X-ray detectors nor the manual search of his luggage revealed anything suspicious. However, when he was accompanied to the Body Scan machine, murky stuff were spotted in his guts.
After he was meticulously investigated and examined, the passenger broke down and admitted that he is hiding 50 capsules of heroin inside his body.
As for the second attempt, thanks to inspectors' vigilance and experience in body language, they have noticed another confused Asian passenger who was carrying 30 tablets of heroin inside his body in an attempt to smuggle them through Dubai Int'l Airport- Terminal 2. After being scanned at the Body Scan machine, he admitted concealing the narcotics in his stomach.
The two passengers were arrested and transferred to the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police to take necessary procedures against them. Worth mentioning, each department plays a great role in coordinating efforts to combat smuggling.
Mr. Ali Al Mugahwi, Director of Passengers Operation Department in Dubai Customs declared that the majority of passengers who attempt smuggling illegal drugs are often tempted into smuggling narcotics in exchange of money given by drug dealers. Nevertheless, inspectors' precision and watchfulness and the highly advanced equipment utilized by Dubai Customs as well as the ongoing cooperation with the authorities at the Airport cripple such operations as smugglers end up being arrested.
