A series of seminars aiming at teaching the new customs inspectors on the different methods of counterfeiting and piracy
Dubai Customs launched a series of workshops, dedicated to different GCC Customs Departments, to present the latest methods used to protect the intellectual property rights (IPR).
These seminars will be held between 25-29 November at Dubai Customs Headquarters.
These seminars come as part of Dubai Customs’ continuous efforts to defend the society against counterfeiting and piracy, and in the framework of disseminating the intellectual property rights concepts. These seminars constitute a part of Dubai Customs preparations to host the Forth Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy in February 2008.
The workshops, organized by the Intervention Department, aim at teaching the new customs inspectors on the different methods used in counterfeiting and pirating goods and how to identify them.
These seminars will highlight the challenges and obstacles the inspectors face during their work and how they deal with them.
International Companies, trade mark specialists along with their legal offices and counselors in the UAE will participate in these seminars by giving presentations on the differences between genuine and fake products.
Yousuf Ozair Moubarak, Senior Manager of the Intervention Department at Dubai Customs said: “These workshops will consolidate our efforts in helping the World International Property Organization to establish a worldwide protection for Intellectual Property Rights and create a healthy investment environment by encouraging creativity and innovation as well as empowering local researchers, scientists and writers.
The presentations will focus on identifying fake and genuine products as well as the smuggling methods and will include several lectures for different companies.
