Dubai Customs holds telecom meeting with the Swedish Customs
Dubai Customs receives global recognition for having one of the most mature and successful implementation of Enterprise Architecture in the world
Dubai Customs hosted a teleconference with the Swedish Customs last week, to outline Dubai Customs approach for Enterprise Architecture. During the teleconference Dubai Customs presented innovative approaches and new ideas taken by the organization to successfully implement Enterprise Architecture.
Mr. Fadi Hindi, Head of Strategic IT Planning & Enterprise Architecture and Mr. Abbas Makki, Director of International Relations presented Dubai Customs' implementation over the teleconference. Delegates from the Swedish Customs included Christer Andersson, head of Architecture, Torbjörn Nilsson, IT architect, Peter Danell and Stefan Persson, process developers.
In the framework of its Reform & Modernisation Program, Dubai Customs has developed a process to better utilize Enterprise Architecture in re-engineering and mapping procedures throughout the organisation. Facing growing challenges in the coming years with an increase in Dubai's coastline (Palms, World) and the opening of a new airport in Jebal Ali, Dubai Customs has anticipated that its transactions will grow from 4 million now to 12 million by 2010; a growth of 300% to address the demand in service.
In order to better address these ever growing challenges, manage our obligations and provide the necessary required support, Enterprise Architecture initiative was started towards the end of 2006. This has helped Dubai Customs become more agile and had lead to streamlined systems with lower maintenance and integration cost whilst enhancing the organisation's architectural flexibility.
Dubai Customs is being recognized globally for its implementation of Enterprise Architecture where the organization's strategy is directly linked to its operations, processes, Human Resources, and performance in a consistent and holistic manner. This provides unique capability to quickly respond to change and assess the impact of change to the business. In addition it provides a unique mechanism to ensure compliance with the World Customs Organization (WCO) standards and guidelines.
Dubai Customs has received global recognition for its efforts from many leading organizations, such as Telelogic and Gartner Research, for having one of the most mature and successful implementation of Enterprise Architecture in the world.
