Dubai Customs celebrates World Humanitarian Day

* Dubai Customs committed to humanitarian action

Dubai Customs celebrated World Humanitarian Day on Wednesday, August 19th. The event is established by the United Nations and it aims to increase understanding of humanitarian action and aid activities, raise awareness of the international cooperation with this regard and to acknowledge people's efforts who work in the field of humanitarian aid.

H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Dubai Customs Director General said:" By partaking in this Day, we are highlighting the importance of uniting international efforts to provide humanitarian aid to people of special needs and the unfortunate believing in this vital contribution to humanity and the need to further humanitarian action especially under the growing numbers of people's needs and the needy across the world."

Inline with celebrating the World Humanitarian Day, Dubai Customs is conducting an awareness campaign for employees to introduce the significance of humanitarian work. Promoting and cultivating voluntary work culture, H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed issued that 2000 employees at the Department will volunteer to work in a humanitarian organization for a paid working day. Those employees will have the freedom to choose the type of the voluntary work they wish to perform.

This initiative roots back to the graceful Islamic Shariaa and ancient Arabic traditions of cooperation, collaboration and giving. Moreover, the initiative is regarded as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and an embodiment of Dubai Customs' commitment to humanitarian and social responsibilities and towards the community as a whole.
