Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai's crown prince and the UAE's defense minister, received Palestinian Foreign Minister Farouq Qaddoumi on Tuesday and ordered more support for those suffering under the 34-year Israeli occupation, said local press reports.
The two leaders reviewed the international situation and the impact of the latest global developments on the Middle East peace process.
In a statement to the official Emirati news agency (WAM) following the meeting, Qaddoumi said that he discussed with Sheikh Mohammed ways of supporting the Palestinian uprising to achieve the Palestinians' objectives of self-determination and establishment of an independent state on their national soil with Jerusalem as their capital.
In this context, Qaddoumi lauded the UAE's political and financial support to the Palestinian cause and people to enable them to regain their national legitimate rights.
He praised the "unlimited financial support" and political stance of President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan towards the Palestinian cause and people.
According to the Al Ittihad daily, Sheikh Mohammad ordered authorities to facilitate the introduction of Palestinian IT companies into the Dubai Internet City.
Sources said that 150 firms were included in the decision.
The Palestinian Authority official hailed the prince as “ a political, humane, and cultural knight,” said Al Bayan daily – Albawaba.com
