Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance & Industry, and Chairman of Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (DUBAL) - the world’s seventh largest producer of premium quality aluminium – the company will host and sponsor the 22nd International Aluminium Conference 2007, which will be held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai from 9 to 12 September 2007. Organised by Metal Bulletin International (MBI), this is the first time that the annual event will take place in the Middle East.

The 22nd International Aluminium Conference in Dubai will be attended by major industry players representing the leading international aluminium companies.

Khalid Essa Abdullah Buhumaid, General Manager: Corporate Relations & International Affairs and the official spokesman of DUBAL said, “The annual MBI conference is attended by major industry players. The decision to hold the 2007 event in Dubai is in line with the guidelines set by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance & Industry, and Chairman of DUBAL, to attract leading international conferences related to the aluminium industry and to reflect Dubai’s leading position as a major international centre for the aluminium industry.

“It is expected that more than 350 high profile personalities in the aluminium industry will attend the event. This will be a good time for participants to be updated on the latest developments of aluminium production, smelting technology and environmental protection and safety,” said Mr Buhumaid. “The event will witness a number of papers related to emerging markets as well as discussions on the future of the aluminium industry, as it is known that the Arabian Gulf is considered one of the most promising areas for this industry and is expected that it will, in the near future, lead the industry globally.”

Abdulla Jassim Kalban, CEO: DUBAL, will be the keynote speaker at the four-day event. The conference agenda will include a tour of DUBAL’s industrial plants and will provide the participants a unique opportunity to witness what DUBAL has achieved in the field of aluminium production.

“By hosting such international conferences in the UAE, Dubai further enhances its role as a major attraction centre for foreign investment in the industrial sectors,” said Mr Buhumaid.
