du Sponsors Zayed Charity Marathon 2008 in New York to Fight Kidney Disease  
 
 
du, the integrated telecom operator in the UAE has announced that it will be sponsoring the Zayed Charity Marathon, which is slated to take place at New York City on 17 May to help raise funds and awareness for the US Healthy Kidney Foundation.
 
The international marathon is organized by the U.A.E. Armed Forces Officers Club in cooperation with the UAE embassy in USA under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
 
The 2008 event is expected to attract over 12,000 runners and participants from around the world, who are keen to take part in the most highly-recognized international sports gathering to raise funds for kidney research and in memory of the late President of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
 
Commenting on du’s sponsorship of the international charity marathon, Hala Badri, EVP, Corporate Communications, du, said: “Our endorsement of the Zayed Marathon, underscores du’s commitment to fully support the country’s goodwill initiatives and as a UAE national company, we will continue to  work  in line with the country’s vision to endorse national and international humanitarian and charitable development  programs.”
 
This year’s official UAE delegation is headed by Major Mohammed El Amry, and his deputy Khaled Hamadi . The delegation includes Fathallah Abdullah the UAE team supervisor, Al Khaleej newspaper Managing Editor Diaa Al Deen Ali, Mohamed Gassim Head of Sports section for Al Bayan newspaper, Seif Al Shamsy Manger of Al Ittihad newspaper Dubai office, Hassan Al Raeisy official photographer, and Saleh Al Marzouqi UAE team coach. Also attending as part of the delegation are Badr Hareb Al Elwy, Aly Musbah Thabet, Ali Khalifeh Al Wahshy, Seif Al Rashdi, Ali Salem Al Qaidi and Suhail Al Janeibi and several UAE runners.
