du provides live satellite uplink for iconic Dubai International Holy Qur’an Awards
For the fourth consecutive year, du provides satellite uplink service to facilitate 24/7, free-to-air coverage of the event across the region
As part of its efforts to honour the occasion of Ramadan, du is providing a satellite uplink through its Jebel Ali teleport station to facilitate the live broadcast of the 12th Annual Dubai International Holy Qur’an Awards (DIHQA) across the Middle East. du will provide this uplink service free of charge for the fourth consecutive year to demonstrate its support of the DIHQA, an important event sponsored every year by the Dubai government. The uplink will give every home in the region receiving signals from the Arabsat Badr 4 satellite the opportunity to enjoy live, 24/7 coverage of the event, for free, starting on the first day of Ramadan and continuing for 20 days. The DIHQA features Holy Qur’an memorisation contests as well as a multitude of other ceremonies and activities aimed at confirming and celebrating Islamic values.
The Holy Qur’an is composed of over 77,000 words, making its memorisation a profound achievement. The DIHQA event honours those who have dedicated themselves to this monumental endeavour and represents a significant annual tradition for many in the Islamic world. As it has for the past three years, du will receive live coverage of the DIHQA proceedings from Dubai TV. du will then provide the uplink service to the Arabsat Badr 4 satellite, which will broadcast the event 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as a free-to-air (FTA) channel. Anyone with a satellite receiver under the footprint of Arabsat Badr 4 will have the opportunity to experience the inspirational proceedings of the DIHQA in real-time for no additional cost. The DIHQA programme typically includes local, national and international Holy Qur’an memorisation contests, a ceremony honouring the Islamic Personality of the Year, Islamic lectures, and much more.
“It is our privilege to support the Dubai International Holy Qur’an Awards, a Ramadan highlight for Muslims across the UAE and throughout the Middle East,” said Mohamed Al Shahi, Senior Director, Broadcasting, du. “As a proud UAE company, we are committed to supporting events and initiatives that strengthen the fabric of local society and honour important occasions. Providing a live satellite uplink from our teleport and facilitating the broadcast of this event helps everyone enjoy a treasured Ramadan tradition and brings joy to Muslims across the region.”
“The DIHQA Committee is grateful for the uplink service that du has faithfully provided for the past four years,” said Ahmed Al Zahed, Head of Media, DIHQA, speaking on behalf of Ibrahim Bu Melha, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, DIHQA. “du, like all of our valued sponsors, makes a very meaningful contribution to the worldwide reputation and success of the DIHQA through its continuing support.
