It was reported that drug trafficking in Jordan moved towards more potent narcotics due to its central geographical location in the region and its long borders, rendering the country a fertile transit point for drug trafficking to the whole area.

Jordan’s director of the anti-narcotics department Tayel Majali was quoted by the local newspapers as saying that " the number of cases involving drug trafficking and consumption are increasing, the kind of drugs consumed in Jordan is also altering,” noting that more than 95 percent of the drugs were destined for neighboring countries.
