ALBAWABA - A number of drones were spotted over Copenhagen Airport, forcing airport authorities to halt operations on Monday, Danish police said.
In addition to Copenhagen Airport, Norway's Oslo Airport was also closed for the same reason.
In a post on X, Copenhagen Airport announced on Sept. 11 that it had shut down operations due to "activity." However, the flights resumed after several hours of closure at 3:22 a.m. local time (0122 GMT).
The airport wrote on X on Tuesday, following reopening, "Due to the shutdown last night, there are unfortunately delays and canceled flights to and from CPH during the day. Arrivals and departures can be seen at http://cph.dk Passengers are requested to check with their airline."
According to the Danish police, Copenhagen Airport was "closed for take-off and landing, as 2-3 large drones" had been seen "flying in the area."
A video was released on social media showing the dark sky with several drones spotted hovering above the airport.
The airport also wrote upon resuming flights on Sept. 23, "Copenhagen Airport reopens after being closed due to activity. However, there will be delays and canceled departures."
"The police have launched an intensive investigation to determine what kind of drones these are," said Copenhagen Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Jakob Hansen.
He added that the Danish authorities didn't shoot down any of the drones.
According to the Flightradar24 website, at Copenhagen Airport, 51 flights were diverted and 109 flights were cancelled
Meanwhile, at Norway's Oslo Airport, 11 flights were diverted and 19 flights were cancelled.
