An apparent US drone strike in Yemen killed three suspected al-Qaeda operatives in the southeastern port city of Mukalla, AFP reported on Wednesday.
A local official told AFP the drone "fired four missiles on three al-Qaeda militants sitting near the port of Mukalla, killing them immediately" late Tuesday night.
Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) is considered by the United States to be the organization’s most dangerous branch. AQAP has used the chaos in Yemen to consolidate control in the city of Mukalla.
