Dozens of Iranians Injured by Unknown Assailants at Speech by Pro-Reform Leader

An unknown group in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad on Friday attacked the audience of a speech by Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Muhammad Reza Khatami,injuring at least 30 people, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).  

The agency said that the group, numbering 40, disturbed the session, which was held by the pro-reform Islamic Iran Participation Front (IIPF) to celebrate President Mohammad Khatami's re-election.  

Residents in neighboring streets took the injured into their homes, saving them from further attacks, IRNA said – Albawaba.com
