AFP reports that twin car bombing attacks in Homs killed at least 46 people on Sunday.

Syrian state television broadcast live from the targeted Al-Zahraa neighborhood, showing the damage and death immediately after the attack. Al-Zahraa was also targeted earlier in 2016, with Daesh conducting two bombings that killed 22 people in January.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claims that the majority of those killed were civilians, with the deth toll likely to rise due to severe wounds and restricted access to emergency medical care.

According to AFP, buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure were mangled from the blasts. Emergency responders are still on the scene.

Currently, Homs is mostly controlled by the Syrian regime army. While Daesh has not formally claimed the attack, the militant group has conducted multiple similar bombings in the city.
