215 plus exhibitors from 27 countries to display new trends and smart ideas on flooring solutions
Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), today (Sunday, May 17, 2009) opened DOMOTEX Middle East 2009, the only dedicated carpets and floor coverings exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa region, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by Deutsche Messe Dubai, DOMOTEX Middle East – which runs from May 17 to 19 - has gathered over 215 exhibitors from 27 countries, with thousands of trade visitors expected to visit the show to discover new trends, source inspiration and smart ideas on flooring solutions.
The major attractions at the 2009 edition of DOMOTEX Middle East include the Designers Corner, where architects and designers are welcome to attend showcases of reference projects, seminars and displays of design flooring. The Designers Lounge will be an integral part of the show, where a series of seminars and related activities will be presented. The Designers Corner is supported by the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID).
Other attractions include Creative Flooring, which is the live “how-to” demonstration area featuring time-saving and quality-enhancing techniques and new products. The themes in Creative Flooring in 2009 will be hotel flooring and office flooring. The demonstrations will again be held by professionals of TAOFS (The Academy of Flooring Skills) from the UK.
“Year after year DOMOTEX Middle East gathers huge interest, as it provides a solid platform for major Arab and international industry players to strengthen old partnerships and create new ones, while maintaining a strong presence in the profitable Middle Eastern markets. Pavilions form Afghanistan, Belgium, China, France, Germany India, and the United States will be present to showcase different concepts in a way to highlight each country’s traditions so that people can widen their knowledge and benefit from the massive offerings,” said Angela Schaschen, Managing Director, Deutsche Messe Dubai.
The three-day exhibition will also inaugurate the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID) Flooring Seminar which is scheduled for May 18, 2009 at the stage of the Designers Lounge, and will provide visitors with information about the role of flooring in interior design. Professional interior designers from the UAE and other GCC countries are expected to attend the seminar, to facilitate a high-level exchange of ideas about the important role of flooring in interior design and new industry trends with several renowned local and international speakers.
DOMOTEX Middle East 2009 will showcase a complete line of handmade and machine-made carpets; textile and resilient floor coverings; parquet and wooden flooring; laminates; sports arena flooring; fibres, yarns and textiles; cleaning and application technologies; ceramic tiles; and natural stone and marble floorings.
The exhibition and trade fair attracts key industry players such as wholesalers and retailers of floor coverings, decision makers in the contracting business, planners, architects, interior designers, construction companies, project planners, floor fitters and other skilled workers from the sector.
