Do Vitamins Increase your Appetite? What do they really do for you? Are you getting enough of them? Should you take a supplement?

These and many other questions are usually asked not only by people who take them but also by professionals and nutritionists.

The word "vitamin" means ‘ vital to life’ and it comes from the Latin word vita (life) and the biochemical term amine (nitrogen-containing)—although we now know that not all vitamins contain nitrogen, as as a scientist referred to the substance in 1912. They are needed for the normal functioning of the body. With few exceptions the body cannot manufacture or synthesize vitamins. They must be supplied in the diet or in dietary supplements. Vitamins are essential to the normal functioning of our bodies. They are necessary for our growth, vitality, and general well-being.
People these days are trying to lose weight by exercising and sticking to a certain diet and are at the same time afraid that these vitamin supplements will increase their appetite. But actually that is quite misleading. Supplemental vitamins do not affect the appetite and are not fattening. Vitamins have no caloric value, and are not sources of energy. However, vitamins do help your body use or release energy present in food. Some vitamin supplements may have a sugar coating, which may represent a calorie or two.
However, vitamin deficiencies may contribute to a loss of appetite. By restoring vitamin balance, the appetite might improve.

Vitamins do increase energy levels, boost immunity to protect from infections and provide the daily nutrients needed for a healthy life.
But it is also possible to be overfed and undernourished. Foods that are high in calories are low in vitamins.

The body does not and cannot manufacture minerals or most vitamins. These can only be supplied and maintained by food intake or supplementation. Vitamins are in many foods. By eating a varied diet, you can get all the vitamins your body needs.
On the other hand, not getting enough of a vitamin can cause a deficiency disease.
In today's fast-food, fast-moving culture, a nutritional supplement is necessary. Due to dieting, eating unhealthy foods or lack of time we all need some amount of supplements to reach daily requirements. Stress, unbalanced diets, smoking, alcohol, sickness, being vegetarian and other factors may lead to nutritional deficiencies also. People who consume an unbalanced daily diet may also suffer from fatigue. In this case, taking vitamin supplements may help restore energy. But is it unwise to take nutritional supplements and think they replace proper and healthy meals.
Dynamisan is a good example of a nutritional supplement that helps maintain a balanced diet to cope with everyday demands of life and ensures an adequate source of essential vitamins, minerals & amino acids and Ginseng, a scientifically recognized natural tonic to provide optimal nutrition and help us get the most out of our daily lives.
