Djibouti Minister of Finance visits Dubai Customs International

The Minister of Finance of Djibouti, Ali Farah Adnan, who recently visited Dubai Customs International (DCI) said that Djibouti was keen on enhancing its relationship with Dubai in all sectors. He stressed on the strong bilateral relationship between Djibouti and the UAE, and with Dubai in particular, especially with the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.

During his official visit, the minister met with Hamed Fadhil Al Mazrooi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Customs International and spoke of the support provided by Dubai to Djibouti over the years, which has strengthened the country’s economy. He said that the Djibouti Port is one of the most important ports in Africa, which serves as a gateway to Eastern African and Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) countries. He spoke about Dubai’s efforts to establish number of projects in Djibouti which has had a huge positive impact on the country’s population and helped Djibouti to stay connected with the rest of the world. He also praised Dubai Customs International for its efforts in successfully developing and managing the customs center at Djibouti.

The minister said that Djibouti was very keen to learn from Dubai’s growth and progress in all fields. He highlighted the importance of Djibouti Port and said that it was a central point to many shipping lines involved in the transport of goods to the African markets.


He said that adopting international standards in customs inspection and procedures will significantly enhance revenue generation for Djibouti Customs. He also added that, developing systems to manage customs procedures and providing the required facilities at Djibouti Port will help attract more international companies to invest in Djibouti and will consolidate its strategic position as a vital link between East Asia, Africa and Europe.
