Several Middle East News Agency journalists have announced a sit-in at the Press Association headquarters in Cairo to protest against alleged administrative oppression, and what they call “the domination of the agency by a person whose relationship [to the agency] has been legally terminated.”

In their press statement, a copy of which has been obtained by Albawaba.com, the journalists also demanded a coherent system for promotions and a halt to all sorts of illegal violations, which they said were causing depression among agency employees.

The journalists who organized the sit-in also specifically complained of “unfair transfer resolutions.”

The journalists told Albawaba.com that they had provided the association settlement committee with details of their problems so that it could intervene. However, they said, if the committee did not resolve the problems by Saturday, they would expand their sit-in.
