Department of Finance unveils its updated website

The Department of Finance (DoF), the financial arm for the Government of Abu Dhabi, has unveiled its updated website, www.dof.abudhabi.ae.

The new website, which went live today, includes a foreword by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of DoF, in which he appraises the remarkable achievements of Abu Dhabi's Government, the pivotal role of DoF in backing up the Government, and the importance of having in place proper communication channels with the public.

The website allows browsers a summary on DoF, its vision and mission, the corporate identity rationale, the stakeholders, a snapshot on DoF's six directorates and their mandates:  the Top Management, General Directorate of Government Accounts, General Directorate of Budgeting, General Directorate of Customs, General Directorate of the Support Services, and information technology.

In addition, the website users can gain an overview on DoF's 2009-2013 Strategic Plan, its priorities, as well as the latest press news through clicking on "press center" icon.

In his foreword for DoF's website, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan stated that it has come right in the appropriate direction to act as a window of knowledge, providing updates on DoF while opening channels of communications and feedback on how to thrive and develop relationships with all DoF's stakeholders, for mutual benefits.

Highlighting the tremendous developments being orchestrated in all walks of life of Abu Dhabi, HH said: "Abu Dhabi is strong-holding its premiere status as the region elite destination for prosperity, welfare and quality lifestyle. Such remarkable achievements have been possible thanks to forward-thinking, insightful, and wise leadership of the emirate which has placed people on top of its priorities, fostering their spirit of innovation, aspiration and hard work. "

His Highness adds: "The Department of Finance (DoF), being the financial arm of Abu Dhabi Government since inception more than 4 decades ago, has been associated with the Emirate’s dynamic and exciting march towards progress, banking on its clear-cut vision of “achieving prosperity of Abu Dhabi through world-class financial management and sound fiscal policy". An overview of the Finance Department

The Government of Abu Dhabi Department of Finance (DoF) was established in 1966, and plays a vital role in providing local government entities with the best-of-breed financial services. DoF aims at enhancing the prosperity of the Emirate by contributing to the economic growth and promoting private sector participation.

DoF adopts the latest processes and technology to further strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of its services. DoF has 5 main directorates: Budgeting, Customs, Government Accounts, Support Services and Information Technology.

Strategic Priorities for Abu Dhabi Finance Department

- Identify efficient ways to finance priority projects of Government entities and strengthen public-private partnerships
- Develop a common and standardized financial framework to ensure the financial stability of Abu Dhabi Government
- Define decentralized financial-management model and assure its gradual transition
- Establish a fiscal policy unit to develop strategies for efficient government spending and to cooperate with the Federal level on all financial frameworks and policies
- Introduce performance measurement approach to enhance efficient use of Government funding
- Establish DoF as the reliable and comprehensive source for Abu Dhabi financial data and analysis by building a process for the collection, analysis and reporting of all relevant data
- Enhance world-class treasury function to optimize short term cash debt management
