The growth in demand for the clean fuel – natural gas in the Middle East is projected to increase 3.3 percent annually, The Gulf Times News reported Wednesday.
Robert J Lakey, conference director of GasTech 2002, was quoted by the daily as saying that in the US, the Energy Information Administration’s forecast for 2001 suggests that the overall demand for natural gas will grow from 21.4tn cubic feet in 1999 to 34.7 tcf in 2020. This represents an annual increase of 2.3 percent on an average.
He said that providing efficient and economical means of transporting natural gas to various markets is on the “critical path,” noting the three different means of transporting natural gas - by pipelines, as compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) – Albawaba.com
