Delegation to receive CITYarts award in New York on behalf of HH Sheikha Manal Bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Her Highness to be honoured for her generous patronage and support of youth-focused artistic and cultural initiatives
On behalf of wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minster of Presidential Affairs, HH Sheikha Manal Bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Women Establishment (DWE), a delegation has left the UAE for New York to receive an award to be presented by CITYarts to Her Highness, in recognition for her generous patronage and support of various artistic and cultural initiatives in the UAE.
The celebration will be held at CITYarts’ Annual Benefit, Auction, and Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 18, 2009 at Sotheby’s in New York. Dr. Lamis Hamdan Al Shamsi, board member of DWE, will receive the award on behalf of Her Highness, along with Muna Bin Killi, Executive Director of Dubai Ladies Club. HH Sheikha Manal, who is the first Arab to receive this recognition, will be one of three extraordinary global women leaders to be recognized at a special ceremony held on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of CITYarts.
An accomplished artist and generous patron of artistic and cultural initiatives in the UAE, HH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s keen interest in artistic endeavors through youth-focused initiatives such as ‘The Sheikha Manal Young Artists Award’ and the ‘Art Exchange Programme’ exemplifies CITYarts’ mission to build bridges of understanding among youth from divergent cultures and backgrounds, to empower youth through artistic collaborations that highlight social issues, and encourage them to become active participants in shaping their communities and their own futures.
