Dubai Customs received at their headquarters a high profile delegation from the Jordanian Customs, headed by Met’eb Al Ziben, the Director General of the Jordanian Customs.
The visit aimed at witnessing the work procedures and practices at Dubai Customs and exchange the information between the two organizations.
Omar Alhamli, Executive Director, Customs Relations, and Abbas Makki, Director, International Relations, along with other officials from Dubai Customs, welcomed the Jordanian delegation and stressed on the importance of enhancing the Arab customs departments’ capabilities in order to fulfill their duties in boosting the economic and social security in the region.
Dubai Customs officials delivered a presentation to the Jordanian delegates on Dubai Customs Strategy 2007-2011 including its vision and mission for the next stage.
The presentation included also a part on Dubai economic and social development, which is inspired by Dubai Strategic Plan 2007-2015.
The delegates were also informed on Dubai Customs’ procedures aiming at facilitating processes of more than 60,000 registered customers as well as the measures taken to save time and efforts and deliver fast e-clearance customs transactions (3.6 million transaction in 2006 alone).
Al Ziben admired the work procedures at Dubai Customs, and the clarity of the Customs Strategy, which included systematic plans and objectives that assigned every department with tasks and duties leading to the integration in procedures and promptness in decision making.
Al Ziben also praised Dubai Customs’ administrative system which is a unique model in the region.
Al Ziben also commented, as Director of the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) regional office in the Middle East, on the procedures followed to organize the WCO’s regional office work, stressing on the fact that the regional office needs the support of the other members.
The visit witnessed an exchange of trophies between the visiting delegation and Dubai Customs.
