Relatives of a dead man were startled when they received a bill for his mobile phone a month after he had passed away in UAE’s Fujairah, reported the Gulf News on Thursday.

The man had been hit by a car and admitted to Fujairah Hospital, where he died of injuries.

A month later, his relatives sought to disconnect his mobile phone line. To their surprise, they discovered that the line was still being used and a new bill was due, said the paper.

The family informed Emirates Telecommunications Corp. (Etisalat) that the subscriber had died a month earlier.

Three days later, police investigations found that a cleaner at the hospital had stolen the deceased's mobile phone and wallet after his clothes had been dumped in the dustbin, the paper added – Albawaba.com
