Top UAE government corporations and free zone authorities are going to take part in the third "UAE in India" trade exhibition due to be held in Mumbai, India, on December 7-10, 2005, organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), in cooperation with Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA) and Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

The announcement of the trade show was made during the press conference which was held yesterday at the DCCI premises, with an expectation of outstanding participation by the UAE companies.

Abdul Rahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee, Director General of DCCI, said: “Trade has always been one of the pillars of strong and old Indo-UAE relationship, and the "UAE in India Trade Show" would help boost the trade relations and ties with India especially that the UAE is India’s 2nd Largest Export Destination."

He pointed out that trade between the two countries has dramatically increased. In 2004, he said" the non oil bilateral trade between Dubai and India in 2003 reached 3.56 US billion Dollars. "This tradeshow will further enhance trade relations with India and create numerous business opportunities in both countries.” Al Mutaiwee added.

He pointed out that the event is expected to attract a large number of Indian investors seeking to establish various enterprises in the free zones of the UAE, or to take Dubai as a regional base to reach the Middle East markets.

Mr. Khalid Bin Sulayem the General Director of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), said: "The DTCM considers India as a very important market with tremendous growth potential. Tourism plays a vital role in both our economies. The DTCM participation in the 2nd UAE Trade Exhibition last year in India was very successful and helped highlight the commercial strengths of Dubai and the growth opportunities that the regional hub offers to the world."

The response from the officials, media representative and businessmen was impressive, he said. "We accomplished extensive networking with the Indian corporate community and we hope that we can build upon this and move forward with our efforts," he added.

Abdalla Al Banna, Marketing Manager of JAFZA, said that this event represents a dynamic opportunity to activate the economic and commercial cooperation between the Free Zone companies and Indian enterprises.

“The event is an unparalleled opportunity for manufacturers, service providers and businessmen to showcase the best of UAE. The number of Indian businesses established in the Jebel Ali Free Zone reached 559 units, out of the total number of companies in the Zone which reached to 4500 companies from over 110 countries, including a number of Indian companies that deal in a wide range of activities in the fields of industry, trade and services.” said Al Banna.

Initiated by the DCCI, JAFZA and DTCM, the event which is technically organized by International Expo-Consults (IEC), a division of Dubai's multi-faceted Falkanaz Group, aims at enhancing progressively the UAE-Indo trade and economic links.

Organizing the 3rd UAE in India trade show this year came as a response to the remarkable success which the same exhibition has made last year in Mumbai, India, in December 2004.

Over 45 leading UAE companies and government organizations have occupied about 80 exhibitors' stands on a space of around 2,500 square meters at the World Trade Centre during the 2nd UAE trade show held in 2004. The expo attracted more than 11,271 business visitors during the 4-day period of the trade show.

Numerous business partnerships, trade leads and deals and distribution set-ups and dealership networks have been revealed, according to the post event survey. The show featured leading UAE organizations from the Banking & Financial Sector, Property, Food Industry, Free Trade Zones, Packaging, Petroleum sector, Food Stuff, and Consumer goods.

The exhibition came as a response to the success achieved by the DCCI, DTCM and JAFZA in organizing the trade show last year, and in the line with the new strategy set by the DCCI which aims at opening new foreign markets as part of its efforts to promote the business sector and serving the Chamber's members.

Abdul Rahman Falkanaz, President of International Expo-Consults (IEC), said: “This tradeshow offers a professional trade platform to meet, interact and conduct business with serious industry decision makers from all over India. This year the show will target more industry sectors including the rapidly expanding IT/ Finance industries in which India is a major global player."

The Indian Consul General in Dubai Mr. Y. K. Sinha attended the press conference and emphasized on the importance of the exhibition in developing and enhancing the trade relations between the UAE and India as well as developing the investments in both countries.

The exhibitors have endorsed the success of this expo by rebooking 70% of this edition of the tradeshow and that reflects the importance of promoting the bilateral trade ties between India and UAE, he added.

India has emerged as one of the most exciting markets in the world with a huge consumer market base comprising a 300 million strong middle-class, with high levels of disposable income. With a significant growth over the last few years, India's GDP sets to grow at 8% this year. Measured in terms of the dollar at purchasing power parity, India's GDP is the 5th largest in the world after USA, China, Japan and Germany. Its foreign exchange reserves cross US $ 120 billion and its exports are growing exponentially.
