"dc world" signs agreement with rak customs and port department for mirsal world technology transfer
Dubai World subsidiary DC World, premier customs solutions provider, today (Wednesday, November 28, 2007) signed an agreement with Ras Al Khaimah Customs and Port Department, under which DC World will provide and install its indigenously-developed Mirsal World electronic customs clearance system.
DC World will also provide full technological and technical support and training, paving the way for the system’s smooth application.
The Agreement was signed by H.E. Hamad Mohammed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, CEO, DC World, and H.E. Mohamed Abdullah Al Mehrazi, General Manager, RAK Customs and Port Department, at a function held in Dubai and attended by senior customs officials from both sides.
Addressing a Press Conference after the signing, Al Mazrooei said:
"This Agreement is an outstanding step forward in our vision of becoming the preferred company for customs administration, both locally and internationally. This is entirely in line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to reach the global arena. DC World has always been proud of its capabilities as an innovator in the design and implementation of customs management systems that are in compliance with international standards. We stand ahead of the competition in the customs market.
"DC World will play a significant role in promoting the applied systems to provide efficiency in RAK Customs and Port. This Agreement is bound to transfer DC World's experience to RAK Customs and Port and ensure the application of international criteria in the operations. This Agreement is also the fruit of years of cooperation existing between the two emirates of Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah.”.
Welcoming the agreement, Al Mehrazi said:
"This Agreement will facilitate the provision of strong technical support and reinforce the services provided by RAK Customs and Port Department to its customers. We commend the role DC World plays as a renowned global customs solutions provider and the innovation it has brought to the field of customs administration.
"The DC World training center located in Dubai is truly a landmark in the customs business. We consider it as a very significant training tool to raise the competence of our employees.”
Speaking about Mirsal World system, Al Mazrooei said:
"The upgraded Mirsal World has proved its efficiency in processing customs information and contributing to the creation of an electronic environment that has eliminated bureaucracy and managerial routine. This success would have never been possible without the relentless efforts of our staff.”
Under the agreement, DC World will provide consultancy services to RAK Customs and Port Department for the updating of administrative procedures, financial systems and operations and customs inspection techniques, in addition to applying advanced information technology solutions and improving staff training programs in RAK Customs and Port Department.
DC World also intends to provide RAK Customs and Port Department with its experience in training the human resources and administrative services besides Mirsal World system, which can be easily adapted to different electronic environments, incorporating simplified working procedures, including online submission and approval of manifests in a paper-free system.
