Damascus radio stressed that the mission of the US envoys to the Middle East - namely, Assistant Secretary of State David Satterfield and John Wolf aimed at "driving away the Arabs' attention" while Israel accelerates the process of building the "apartheid segregation wall in the West Bank".

The state-run radio said that what is "ridiculous" is that the two envoys don't recognize the "real goal" of their mission.

In its daily political commentary, the radio pointed to the absence of the Palestinian cause in Bush's latest State of the Union address.

Cited by SANA, the radio added that "it seems as if [US President George W.] Bush wants to inform the Jewish electors in America that [Israeli Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon's willingness to freeze the American role, even until the end of [the] building [of] the wall, will mark the US foreign policy from now until at least November's American Presidential elections".

The report concluded by saying that everybody expects the failure of the two envoys' mission since they don't know the real target behind it, adding that it only "aims at persuading the Palestinians" with an "illusion that the American diplomatic wheel is still going on". (Albawaba.com)
