A suicide bomb attack in the heart of the Syrian capital killed at least four people on Thursday, according to Syrian state television.
The attack took place in a Christian neighbourhood in Damascus.
“A terrorist suicide bombing... in Damascus has left four people dead and several others wounded,” the state broadcaster said.
Opposition-aligned watchdog Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the toll.
“A suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the Mariamite church,” said the Britain-based watchdog, referring to an order of the Maronite church.
“According to preliminary reports, four people were killed and several others wounded,” it added.
The attack took place a day after the watchdog reported that at least 100,000 people have been killed since the beginning of the Syrian uprising in March 2011.
