Rockets have been fired at Libya's Labraq airport from the Daesh-controlled city of Derna, Reuters has reported.

The incident happened just hours after 45 people were killed and more than 50 wounded in an attack by Daesh in eastern Libya.

Daesh's Libya branch released a statemement claiming responsibility for the Qubbah attacks. The group said the suicide bombings were in revenge for Egyptian air strikes on Islamic State targets in Derna on Monday, a day after the Islamists released a video showing the beheadings of Egyptian Copts.

Labraq has become the main hub for eastern Libya since Benghazi airport stopped operating in May due to continued violence in the area.

Libya has few functioning airports after the country descended into chaos following Arab uprisings and the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi four years ago.
