Two Lebanese men have been arrested over alleged links to ISIS [Daesh] and planning bomb attacks against security forces, General Security said Tuesday, claiming that they also sent "infiltrators" to disrupt the recent anti-government protests in Beirut.
It accused Kh.Sh. and Aa.A. of “belonging to the terrorist group, ISIS, and for teaming up with Lebanese Aa.Aa. and Aa.M to form a terrorist group under the leadership of Lebanese N.S. that planned to carry out bomb attacks and prepare bombs to target positions and military vehicles of the Lebanese Army and security forces.”
It also accused that same men of sending “several infiltrators” to sow discord in the civil society demonstrations in Downtown Beirut that were driven by Lebanon’s waste crisis.
The statement said those infiltrators were responsible for cursing politicians and writing insulting language on the tomb of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri with the aim to stir sectarian strife.
General Security did not say when or where the two were arrested, but added that they were referred to judicial authorities.
